Greenwood, SC... Mrs. Dorothy R. “Dot” Carroll, 83, entered into rest on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Hospice House of Greenwood.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM in St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, December 16, 2017 with Mother Nancee Cekuta officiating. Inurnment will be private.
She was born June 1, 1934 to Mr. Russel H. Roberts and Mrs. Mattie Spencer Roberts in Jupiter, NC. She graduated from Weaverville (NC) High School in 1952; Lees McRae College, Banner Elk, NC, 1954; she was employed for a time at the Savannah River Plant. She entered University Hospital School of Medical Technology in Augusta in 1956; received a B.S. degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Medical Technology in 1977; received Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University in 1980. She enjoyed 42 years of full time employment in the Clinical Laboratory Department and Nuclear Medicine at University Hospital in Augusta, GA, retiring from full time status in 2000. She was an active member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church serving in the choir, Stewardship Committee, Stephen Ministry Leader and a member of the Memorial Garden Committee. She served as a Money Map Coach under Crown Financial Ministry and earlier with Christian Financial Concepts in 1978 until the two merged, assisting people in personal financial matters such as budgeting. She was for many years an Associate of the Order of St. Helena Episcopal Convent.
She is survived by her son, William “Bill” Murray Kelsey, III (Nona); step-daughter, Virginia Huckabay (David) and step-grandchildren Katherine Odom (Kelly) and Zack Huckabay (Eileen). Dot was preceded in death by her husband, The Reverend Daniel W. Carroll; brother, Charles J. Roberts and sister Margaret Cleo Roberts Billingsley.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church 471 West Martintown Rd. North Augusta, SC 29841 in lieu of flowers.
