Johnny and Miriam Rowland
Johnny and Miriam Rowland
The Rowlands have been serving North Augusta and the surrounding area for more than twenty years. In 1991, after his commitment to a large corporate funeral service, Johnny Rowland, along with his wife, Miriam, began construction of Rowland Funeral Home in North Augusta. This privately owned firm enabled them to give the community the personal attention and compassion they deserved. The support of the community gave the Rowlands the opportunity to build a larger and more convenient facility. The new 12,000 square foot facility on Martintown Road in North Augusta opened in 1997. Upon the opening of the new facility, Rowland Funeral Home was invited to join the Selected Independent Funeral Homes Association. Membership is by invitation only, and is reserved for the most highly regarded funeral homes in the nation.

Being a local, family owned funeral home, Rowland Funeral Home is committed to the religious and civic activities of the community. Johnny was honored as North Augusta's Small Business Person of the Year in 1994. Johnny and Miriam, along with their children, are members of First Baptist Church of North Augusta, where Johnny serves on the administrative board. He has served as president of the North Augusta Sertoma Club, chairman of the joint Chambers of Commerce of Aiken and North Augusta, and a deputy coroner of Aiken County. He is also a member of the Jesse Lynch American Legion Post. Professionally, Johnny is a past president of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association and presently serves on the policy board of the National Funeral Directors Association. Miriam, a licensed funeral director, is past president of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, was past president and an extension officer of the Xi Beta Gamma chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and is a former board member of the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce.
