Tyler Lowery Obituary

North Augusta, SC........Tyler James Lowery, beloved son of Jeff and Dawn Lowery of North Augusta, South Carolina, transitioned peacefully into the loving arms of God on June 23, 2021. Born August 22, 1989 in Augusta, Georgia, he passed away at age 31.

No smile was more sunny, no heart more genuine and no soul more pure than Tyler’s. His goodness, guilelessness and sweetness brought out the best in everyone he encountered. He made everyone’s light shine brighter.

Tyler loved sports (especially when his dad was coaching one of his teams), music and film. His extremely close and fun-loving family spent countless hours together in pursuits including trivia, board games, beach and mountain trips and pick-up ballgames. As an adult, he diligently pursued his love of acting, landing several small roles, relishing both the creative and technical aspects of the craft.

Closest to his heart was any living creature he encountered. He adored his mom, dad, sister, extended family and his many devoted friends. He was particularly drawn to the fragility and vulnerability of animals, whether rescuing an abandoned dog or cat, nursing an injured squirrel back to health or simply sitting on the deck and marveling over every living thing that crossed his path or caught his eye. Nothing of beauty ever went unnoticed by Tyler, and no creature in need was ever overlooked.

He leaves behind a family that mourns his untimely death yet rejoices in every day that he graced their lives. They know they will reunite and joyfully await that day. His spirit and goodness will live on forever.

Survivors, in addition to his loving parents, include sister Ashtyn Nicole Lowery and her fiancé Harrison Pruitt; grandmother Helen Lowery; grandfather Dick Fretty; aunts Karen (Jeff) Lyall, Lisa (Mike) Rasmussen and Lynn (Dana) Curl; uncles Mark (Marie) Fretty and Greg (Anne) Lowery; cousins Sarah, Eric, Ally, Morgan, Rachel, Anna and Chris; and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carol Fretty, and his grandfather, James “Skeet” Lowery.

A memorial service will be held at 1:11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in the chapel of Rowland-Ford Funeral Home, 637 W. Martintown Rd., North Augusta, South Carolina, 29841. A gathering time will follow.

“Life, that sets all things in rhyme, may make you a poet, too, in time. But there were days, oh tender elf, when you were poetry itself.” (Excerpted from “To a Child” by Christopher Morley.)
