Ralph Teddy Greer

Ralph Teddy Greer entered into rest on May 15, 2022. He was born November 3, 1932 in Myra, Kentucky up in the holler on John Greer Branch in Pike County, to the late Oscar Crit Greer and Leurena Wright Greer. 

Ralph graduated from Dorton High school in Dorton, Kentucky in 1952. He briefly attended college classes at Morehead University in Kentucky before moving to Michigan. There, he worked several different jobs before being drafted into the Army in 1953. He served two years as an Army medic at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He served as a Corporal, and was chosen as his unit's flag bearer. 

Ralph returned to the Detroit, Michigan area to work, where he met Margaret Faye Siler. On December 24, 1956, Ralph and Faye were wed, and they began sixty-five years of marriage. The Greers were blessed with eight children. Ralph and Faye's children have given them twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and a new great-great-grand baby. 

Ralph worked in the blast furnace at McLouth Steel in Trenton, Michigan for thirty years. He served as supervisor, and farmed 120 acres on the side. He retired in 1986 and moved south, finally settling in Waynesboro, GA in 1989. In Waynesboro, he worked as a farm foreman for twenty-two more years. After retirement, he continued to work in his garden that he loved so much, and cared for his beloved dogs. 

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by four of his nine sisters: Orbenia, Charlotte, Roberta, and Wilma; two children, Timothy Greer and Rickey Greer; and a grandchild, Lacey. 

Left to cherish Ralph’s memory are his wife, Faye; his children, Ralph Teddy Jr. (Becky) Greer of North Augusta, SC; Tommy Greer of Waynesboro, GA; Laura (Scott) Eishen of Newington, GA; Wendell (Lisa) Greer of Thomson, GA; Rosanne Greer-Kennedy of Waynesboro, GA; and John Greer of Waynesboro, GA;  daughter-in-law Michelle Greer of Cookeville, TN; his grandchildren, Teddy Greer III, Alisha Allen, Timothy Greer, Rickey Greer Jr., Steven Sowles, Cherrie Sowles, Sarah Eishen, Stephanie Eishen, Jeremy Eishen, Joshua Eishen, Andrew Eishen, Audrey Eishen, Christopher Greer, Justin Greer, Joseph Greer, Catie Bailey, Jordan Kennedy, Matthew Kennedy, Mark Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy; and his sisters, Leah, Joann, Donna, Portia, and Rena. 

Ralph’s funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Belvedere Church of God, Brother John Christmas officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment in Graniteville Cemetery will follow.
