Michael David Wood, Sr.

Augusta, GA.....Mr. Michael David Wood, Sr., 55, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. His memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 5:00 PM in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until service time. Veteran's Honors will be accorded following the service. Mike's children request that everyone in attendance wear a Hawaiian shirt to honor the fact that every time he left the house he had one on.

Mike was born and raised in Augusta, GA, he graduated from Butler High School in 1984. He spent 12 years in the Navy following his graduation and traveled the world on several different naval ships. He later returned to the Augusta area in 1996 and got a job at the Federal Prison in Edgefield, where he worked for 20 years until his retirement in 2018. If you were looking for Mike, you could find him kayaking, fishing, riding his bike, walking “his” dog Kado through the neighborhood, cruising, or planning the next cruise. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Kathryn Lockhart of Hephzibah, GA.. He is survived by his three children, Michael “Mikey” Wood Jr, Elizabeth “Lovey” Wood, and Jacob “Jake” Wood, Daughter in Law Taylor Wood; his granddaughter Hadley Wood. Mike is also survived by his father Tommy Wood Sr. of Perry, GA, brother Tommy Wood Jr., sister Wendy Roberts and sister Amy Lewis.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, blood donations be given at the donor's local blood center as Mike was a committed donor.
