North Augusta, SC…….Mr. Marion L. Kendrick, 81, husband of Rhonda A. Kendrick, entered into rest on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.
His graveside memorial service and inurnment with Veterans Honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in Westover Memorial Park with Bishop Paul South presiding. Masking and social distancing are encouraged.
Marion was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Graniteville Ward. He faithfully served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy. He sailed on the radar picket destroyer USS Goodrich during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for many years as a delivery man for Sunbeam Bread and then retired from Colonial Bread after 25 years of service. He was known by many as “The Bread Man”. Following his retirement, he found great enjoyment in his second career as a security guard at Sage Valley Golf Club where he served faithfully for 7 years. He was a big fan of old westerns, country music, Shag, shopping, supporting local restaurants, and flirting. He never met a stranger.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his sons, Russ Kendrick, Doug Kendrick, Matt Perkins (Melissa), and Andrew Perkins; his daughters, Carla Hammett (Brian), Nikki Kendrick, Christy Martin (Andy), Janae McLean (Kenny), and Nicole Perkins; his sisters, Jeanette Johnson (Larry), and Linda Huffman; his grandchildren, Lexi, Ally, Evan, Leah, Lily, Hud, Ian, Chase, Zach, Bryce, Jamie, McKenna, Grayson, Kristen, Joshua, and Cody; and four great grandchildren.
