Joshua William Barfield

North Augusta, SC......Joshua William Barfield received a rich welcome into his heavenly home on May 10, 2023, at the age of twenty. He was born on March 21, 2003, in Cartersville, GA. 

Joshua was a 2021 High Honors (4.4 GPA), College and Career Ready graduate of North Augusta High School. He completed his first year of study at the University of South Carolina finishing with a GPA of 3.62. Joshua was a media arts major working to complete his fourth semester.

Joshua will be remembered for his unique and eclectic style, loyalty, devotion and love for his friends and family (his people), his acceptance of others and his uncritical nature. He was handsome, well-spoken, thoughtful with his words, comfortable in his own skin, down to earth, intelligent, passionate about fashion (even modeling for the University of South Carolina’s Fashion Show) and had a forgiving heart that would forgive "until seventy times seven" without any effort. Words cannot capture his wit, comedic timing, and sense of humor. He kept friends and family laughing. Joshua’s presence ensured a free 24/7 stand-up comedy gig. He was a complete joy to be around.

He loved music and had the ear of a seasoned musician when it came to explaining different musical genres. Joshua had a talent for creating captivating Fortnite edits that gained widespread popularity. He was also well-known and followed in the gaming community. He played Fortnite, H1Z1, Overwatch, and Team Fortress 2 to name a few with many high-profile gaming players including rappers Lil Yachty and Yung Pinch, and former Green Bay quarterback Kurt Benkert.

The world has lost a beautiful old soul, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Gary and Jeana Barfield; his sister, Hannah Barfield (Brian Fishback); grandmother, Brenda Bassin (Dennis); grandfather, Larry Barfield (Patsy); great-grandfather, Johnnie Kent Jr.; aunts, Twila Butler (Russ), Delenda Metts (Jerry), and Carol Parker (Gerald); uncles, Kent Barfield (Brooke), Johnny Barfield (Lisa), and Erick Ingram (Betty); many close cousins; his longtime friend, Caleb Miller; and his beloved dog, Harley.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 15, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Rowland-Ford Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be held at TrueNorth Church on Tuesday, May 16, at 10:00 AM, Pastors Steve Davis and Travis Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

In addition to his creativity, Joshua had a keen eye for fashion and was known for his ability to find rare vintage clothing at local thrift stores in the CSRA. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to any local Salvation Army in his name. Joshua had a very free spirited, relaxed dress style.  He would want everyone to be comfortable at his Celebration of Life. Joshua’s friends are dressing like Joshua in vintage tees, velour sweats, trapper hats, etc. Feel free to dress like Joshua or wear your favorite outfit, whether that be a dress with heels, or tee-shirt and ripped jeans. Come comfortable. He would like that.
