Joey enjoyed attending church at both Grace United Methodist Church and First Christian Church of Belvedere. Spending time with family, attending sporting events, watching Auburn athletics, enjoying nature, and listening to retro music were some of his favorite pastimes. Joey had a warm personality and beautiful smile. He won many awards and accolades, his work ethic was unparalleled and he was named employee of the month on many occasions. Joey was famous for his loving spirit and Happy Birthday calls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad Levon and Wylene Powell Hartzog. Survivors include his sisters, Nancy Dee Hartzog of North Augusta and Amy Hartzog Daniel of Greenville; his brother in law, Eddie Daniel; his niece, Natalie Daniel both of Greenville; a special aunt, Shirley Overstreet (John), a special uncle, Joe Powell (Mary); and a special friend, David Dickson.
Special thanks to Phyllis Dukes for her loving care.
"Joey blossomed in your care. You allowed him to be independent at his pace. He was so much happier and content with your patience and gentle love. Leaving him after my visits weren't sad because I knew you were there to care for him. You were in the "background" letting Joey control his life, but yet you were his "ground" to give him support. I am grateful for you, Miss Phyllis, and know that you have another angel looking after you." Amy
