North Augusta, SC…..Mr. Gary Joseph “Joe” Rankins, 53, husband of Susie Rankins, entered into rest on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center.
The family will have a time of gathering on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Rowland-Ford Funeral Home. Casual attire is requested as Joe would not want anyone making a fuss.
Joe was a jokester and veiled his brutal honesty in sarcasm, hoping that he would not hurt anyone’s feelings. He was outgoing, fun loving, was never shy, and always tried to make people smile and laugh. He loved to experience life on two wheels, whether on his dirt bike racing hare scrambles, mountain biking, or on the open road on his touring bike. Joe loved tattoos. Each piece of his body art had a special meaning, particularly the stars for his grandchildren whom he spoiled. He once rode 2800 miles from New York to Utah just to visit them. He also made an overnight trip from Kentucky to Southern California to be at his daughter’s side for her surgery. Joe was always there when anyone needed him, no matter the obstacle.
His memory will be cherished by his wife Susie, his son, Joseph Rankins (Marlene) of Draper, UT; his daughter, Tara Henderson (Eric), of Ft. Bragg, NC; his grandchildren, Frank Martin, Kole Rankins, Grace Rankins, Valerie Rankins, Liam Rankins, and Ava Ann Henderson; his brother, Richard Rankins (Martha); nephews, Mario Lopez, Ronnie Lopez, and Michael Rankins; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Inc.
