North Augusta, SC.....Ms. Janice Franklin Ward, 77, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at her residence.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020, at 11:00 AM in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. T. Joseph Lusk officiating. Social distancing will be practiced. Interment will be private. The service will be available via Livestream by using the following link: http://livestream.com/RowlandFord/events/9199067
Immediately following the service, the family will be standing under the portico. All are welcome to participate in a vehicular parade, driving by the portico to practice social distancing but still speaking to the family. Stationery will also be provided in the lobby for any thoughts or notes for the family.
Ms. Ward spent her entire career as an educator and mentor. She not only taught her students, but invested in their lives as well. She graduated from Winthrop University and went on to the University of South Carolina where she earned her Masters in Education. Her career began at R.B. Stall High School in North Charleston. Ms. Ward continued her teaching career at North Augusta High School from 1972 until her retirement in 1997. Following her retirement, she held part time positions at North Augusta Middle School, Cross Creek High School, Curtis Baptist School, and America’s Choice teaching program. Ms. Ward was an avid reader. She also loved the beach, camping, gardening, and birdwatching.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John P. and Lillian Gault Franklin; her brother, Larry F. Franklin; and her sister, Sue C. Franklin.
Survivors include her daughters, Rhett Sherman (Luke) and Ryanne Caldwell (Kevin); four grandchildren, Emma Grace Sherman, Addison Sherman, Lillianne Caldwell, and Camden Caldwell; her sisters, Jimmie Benton (Perry) and Sharyn D. Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please bring a children's book (elementary age level), which will be donated to Hammond Hill Elementary School's library with memorial bookplates for Ms. Ward.
