James Patrick Corcoran, Jr.

Martinez, GA……Mr. James P. Corcoran, Jr., 88, entered into rest on Thursday, January 13, 2022 after a battle with dementia. 

His funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre, SD.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Corcoran was born and raised in California, mostly in the San Diego area.  He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and went on to have a career in the hospitality industry, working in and owning hotels in southern California.  He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and was proud of his affiliation with his college group, The Continentals.  He moved to Augusta in 2015 to be closer to his family that he loved.  He believed that "every man should have his DEW" and enjoyed Tullamore Dew and chocolate chip cookies to the fullest extent.

He is survived by his daughters, Kim Kitts (Roy), and Kathleen Raja (Iftikar); his grandchildren Elizabeth Wood and Jacob Wood (Taylor); his great granddaughter, Hadley Wood, and many, many cousins, but especially Susan Morris (Bob), Carleen Krebs (Mark) and Denise Finch (Mike).

He was a generous benefactor to the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and a donation in his name to either would be a perfect memorial.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sodalis Martinez and Agape Hospice for their loving care and kindness in Jim's last days.
