North Augusta, SC…..Mr. James E. “Jimmy” Busbee, Jr., husband of Tina Busbee, entered into rest on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
No formal services will be held at the request of Mr. Busbee.
Born in Augusta, Jimmy graduated from Butler High School in 1968 and had made North Augusta his home for the last 28 years. He had a 40 year career with CSX where he served as a conductor and was given a heroism award for his actions in saving injured boaters on Lake Greenwood. Following his retirement, he could be found eating breakfast every Thursday with his colleagues from the railroad. Jimmy was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam from 1969-1971. Any and all animals could find a safe haven and a bowl of food at the Busbee home; he fed countless stray animals over the years, particularly cats. In 2022, one of his neighbors noticed what he was doing and gave the information to Channel 6, who then honored Jimmy with a Salute to Service Award for his kindness to animals. When he wasn’t working or tending to the lost and lonely animals of the neighborhood, Jimmy’s favorite activity was being at the beach where he enjoyed fishing, looking for shark’s teeth, and family camping trips.
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife are his sons, Tracy Busbee (Stephenie), and George Young; his daughter, Kathy Roberts; his grandchildren, Catlin, George, Hunter, Tori, Alton, Hannah, and Coral; and his great-grandchildren, Jakob, Kaleb, and Harper.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
