Jacquelyn (Bonnette) Quarles

Alpharetta, GA……Jacquelyn Bonnette Quarles entered peacefully into rest on March 19, 2023 at the age of 91. 

Jacquelyn was born in Edgefield, SC on May 23, 1931 to the late George W. Bonnette and Wilma Ward Bonnette. She attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC and worked as a certified interior designer for 30 years. She lived in North Augusta for over 50 years before moving to Alpharetta, where she resided for 20 years. 

Jacquelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Reid Quarles, and a son, George Christopher Quarles. She is survived by her son, Michael Quarles of Alpharetta, GA; and a daughter, Jenny Shaw (Tony) of Alpharetta, GA. Jacquelyn is also survived by two grandchildren, Patrick Shaw (Corey) of Cary, NC; Harrison Shaw (Courtney) of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandchildren, Blakely and Riley; and a sister, Joan Harris of Greenwood, SC; 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, GA, and of the Carolina Hills Garden Club, where she served as President for several years. 

She was blessed to have a group of loving friends and longtime NA residents lovingly referred to by Jacquelyn's family as "The Steel Magnolias": Belva Lacey, Martha Claire Farmer, Lucy Walters and Carolyn Holiday.

She loved her family and God with all her heart. She was happiest when she was with her people. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25 in North Augusta, S.C. at 1:00 PM in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Brian K. Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens will follow. 

Memorials may be made to the Storey Chapel Fund c/o First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA 30909, which was named in honor of her dear friend Barbara Storey.
