J. Stephen Staley

North Augusta, SC…..Mr. J. Stephen Staley, 67, husband of Lynn G. Staley, entered into rest on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at his residence. 

His memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 18, 2021 in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Kiser officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. 

Steve was born in Williston but had been a resident of North Augusta since the age of 2. He graduated from North Augusta High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of South Carolina. Following his graduation and working for another firm, Steve opened J. Stephen Staley, CPA and operated it until his retirement in 2016. Steve liked all of his clients and never missed an opportunity to give back to his community. He was involved for many years with the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce where he served as a board member. He also coached youth league basketball. When Steve wasn’t working or giving back to his community, he was a traveler, adventurer, and outdoorsman. In 1991 he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with his brother. He ran many marathons and at the age of 60 learned to surf in Hawaii while visiting his family. Having his family near him was his greatest joy in life.

Survivors include his sons, Ryan Willis Staley (Jennifer), and Franklin Jordan Staley (Dania); his daughter, Traci Goodchild; his brothers, John Franklin Staley, III (Linzie), and Richard Keller Staley (Carolyn); his sister in law, Judith King (Don); and his grandchildren, Emory, Judy Lynn, Keller, Reid, David, Samuel, and Fiona.
