Henry Allen Martin

North Augusta, SC…….Mr. Henry Allen Martin, 73, husband of the late Rita Fricks Martin, entered into rest on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at his residence. 

His memorial service will be held on Monday, May 22 at 6:00 PM in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Paul Noe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.

Mr. Martin was born in Augusta, GA and was a lifelong resident of the CSRA. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He attended Sweetwater and Victory Baptist Church. Spending time with his family, woodworking, drawing and painting were among his favorite activities. Henry loved reading his Bible, listening to his music–especially Dolly Parton and Cody Webb–and watching Walker, Texas Ranger. He enjoyed going with his family to live shows, and going out to eat, especially for catfish dinners at Rhinehart’s. He looked forward to the family’s annual trips to Destin, where he enjoyed fishing on the pier, taking deep sea fishing excursions, and watching the marine life in the clear emerald seas. 

Henry had a very loving and forgiving heart. He loved the Lord and never saw bad in people. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted person who never met a stranger and who would give anyone the shirt off his back.  He was ever so patient and never complained about anything. Henry loved animals and people. He always wanted to give a friendly wave and a hello to every passer by, whether walking down the street or in the aisle of a Walmart.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert Allen Martin; his daughter, Melanie Mercier (Tony); his sisters, Donna Kay (Billy), Bobbie Duppstadt (Jimmy), and Jill Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rita; by his grandson, Joseph Bradley Mercier; his brother, Lamar Martin; and his sister, Sherrel Martin.
