Harold Gene Porter

North Augusta, SC........Harold Gene Porter, age 88, entered into rest at his residence on October 8, 2023.

He was born on July 17, 1935 in Kings Mountain, NC to the late C. Neal and Gertrude Porter. 

Gene worked in the newspaper industry for over forty years in various cities, including Shelby, NC; Camden, SC; Aiken, SC; and Augusta, GA. 

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by siblings Bob Porter (Joan), Norman Porter, Lucille Greene (George), and Evelina Panther (HK). 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joy R. Porter; daughters, Robin E. McGee (Ronnie) and Charlotte P. Thomas (James); grandchildren, Drew Emmette and Tori Livengood (Steven); three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Brenda Porter; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. 

At Mr. Porter’s request, services will be private. Memorials in Gene’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
