Dorothy R. Riggs

North Augusta, SC.....Dorothy "Dot" R. Riggs entered into rest on November 8, 2022.  

She was born in McBean, GA on February 8, 1933 to the late Roy Roscoe and Ruby Lilian Chalker Wiggins. 

Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, singing in the choir at Riverfront Church, and playing her Tuesday and Saturday card games.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Riggs; her son, Terry Bates; a grandson, Walker Hett; and a sister, Joan Beach. 

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Weldon M. Bates, Jr.; daughter, Cindy Hett Williams (Gerry); grandchildren, Weldon M. Bates, III and Nicole Bates Rockett (Ben); great-grandchildren, Jody Rockett, Philip Rockett, Haley Bates, Hannah Bates, and Lauren Bates; and a great-great-grandchild, Baylor Locklair Bates.  

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 12:00 p.m. at Rowland-Ford Funeral Home; her funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Chapel, Pastor Jerry Byrd officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens will follow.
