Obituary

Doris Mae Sander, a resident of North Augusta, SC, gracefully entered the gates of Heaven on August 17, 2023.  Born on January 17, 1934, in Williamsport, PA, Doris was the daughter of Robert and Ernestine Wahler. She embarked on a life journey that was marked by love, service, and unwavering faith.

Doris met hometown boy Howard Sander Jr. and they were married for 50 years until Howard's passing in 2007.  Doris is survived by her loving children: Kimberlee (Paul) Perretta, Howard Sander III, DruQueal, Lynn (John) Webb, Mark (Joy) Sander, and Jennifer Jeffries. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Doris is survived by her brother Robert Wahler and sisters Sharon (Gene) Greninger and Dawn Kehrer. She was predeceased by her brother Max Wahler and sister Roberta Coleman.

Doris's journey led her to serve her country in the Air Force, a testament to her dedication and patriotism. She spent her career working in hospital business offices across Pennsylvania, Florida, and Missouri, leaving a professional mark that spoke of her diligence and commitment

A skilled seamstress, Doris found joy in sewing. She had a love for the great outdoors, and her fondest memories were camping trips that she shared with her family, and she loved taking long car rides in the country with her husband.

Doris’s strong faith was firmly rooted in God, it was unshakable. She was a dedicated member of Big Stevens Creek Baptist Church. Her devotion and faith were evident in all she touched through her participation in church activities and her unwavering support for Missions. Doris's legacy of love, faith, and compassion lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
