North Augusta, SC…….Mr. Donald Corbitt Ward, 83, entered into rest on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
His funeral service will be held in the J.M. Ford Funeral Chapel at Noon on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 with Rev. Chris Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery with Veteran’s Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Jennings, Lamar Fain, Clinton Fain, Devan Fain, Drayton Hearn, Bernie Williams, and Eddie Lord.
A native and lifelong resident of the CSRA, Mr. Ward proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK from 1966-1969. His career as a truck driver following his military service spanned 45 years. Mr. Ward played semi-professional baseball and played in the Army during his service. In addition to being an active member and deacon of Bel-Ridge Baptist Church, he also served on the building and grounds committee. He was a member of the AFBA lake club, volunteered as a coach for the Belvedere Lions and Belvedere Dixie Youth Baseball where he also served as VP for many years. Among his favorite pastimes were gardening, working in his yard, fishing, and watching and attending NASCAR races. All of these activities were made better by his favorite beverage, a cold Coca-Cola. His favorite diet consisted of cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, and fries. An excellent and devoted caretaker, he cared for his late wife, Joyce, and his late parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Blythe Blackwell; his son, Cory Ward (Jessica); his grandchildren, Michael Blackwell (Kaylee), Amelia Hearn (Drayton), Dylan Falzarano, Colten Falzarano, and Hayden Ward. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his father, Delmar Ward; his mother and stepfather, Stella and Pat Runyan; and his brother, Richard Ward.
