Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Herbert E. Parrish, Jr.

Beech Island, SC…….Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Herbert E. Parrish, Jr., 83, husband of 65 years to Lois Neddine Ensling Parrish, entered into rest on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at his residence.

His memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2022 in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Tesch officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. 

Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Parrish served over 20 years in the US Army including 16 years overseas with his wife and 4 children. He earned many awards during his time in the service to include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal 5th Award, Army Commendation Medal with 1st OLC, 2 O/S Bars, Expert Rifle, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. He married his First Sergeant’s daughter and after retiring from the military, worked for and retired from Spartan Security as a Regional Manager. He was an avid gardener. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he was loved by his family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughters, Teresa Parrish Klementowski (Ronald), and Phyllis Parrish Koster; his son, Herbert E. Parrish, III (Ellen); his grandchildren, Joseph Williamson (Charlene), Nathan Williamson (Ashley), Monique Brudi, Tommy Purvis (Jessica), Johnny Whitaker (Laurie), Brandi Ellison (Will), Erin Coleman (Michael), Audrey Cosentino (Gio), Kinsey Parrish, Kenneth Bellamy (Cortney), and Michael Koster(Krystal); his great grandchildren, Savannah, Trinity, Madeline, Tiege, Alina, Collin, Sophia, Rylan, Brant, Greggory, Emory, Adaline, Evelyn, Isla, Wyatt, Kylie, Kearsten, River Grace, Kanaan, Junior, and Willow. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Parrish Brudi; his sisters, Inez Presley, Shirley Connor, and Janice Bryant; his brothers, Jack Parrish, Jake Parrish, Paul Parrish, Billy Parrish, Joe Parrish, Bunk Parrish, and Jimmy Parrish.
