North Augusta, SC…..Mrs. Celeste Wilson Keyes, 76, wife of the late John L. Keyes, III, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at her residence.
Her funeral service will be held in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 5:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. Graveside interment services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Winchester Cemetery in Winchester, KY under the direction of Scobee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Keyes had a tremendous passion for helping others, particularly children. She spent over thirty years as a social worker, serving those in need. She could always be found “taking in strays” whether it be animals or children, all found a safe haven at her home. She traveled the world but never lost her love and pride for her Eastern Kentucky and Appalachian heritage. She was a voracious reader, a brilliant writer, and a masterful storyteller, sometimes exaggerating the details just a little. Music, dancing, and the beach were among her favorite things, nothing however, could top the love and adoration she had for her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Tracy Keyes and his wife, Joanna; her daughter, Laney Dru Newsome and her husband, Anthony; her grandchildren, Taylor Keyes, Ainsley Cullum, Daniel Keyes, and Abigail Keyes; her cousins, who were more like siblings, Sue Brown, Randy Wilson, Scott Wilson, Shari Ratanapool, and Charles Ed Wilson.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)
