Ms. Hufham had an immense love for animals of all kinds, particularly cats. She could often be found feeding animals that didn’t have homes, even when it meant putting her personal safety at risk. When she wasn’t feeding animals around her home, she enjoyed going to Lake Olmstead and feeding the ducks. More overreaching than her love for animals was her love for her daughters and family. She encouraged independence and taught her daughters to cut boards, build various items, and even rewire lamps. She once put up a fence at her house without assistance. Selflessness was one of her greatest qualities. She would strive to put the needs of others above her own. In her younger years, she enjoyed concerts, symphonies, operas, plays, and art shows. Her taste in music was eclectic, ranging from classical piano to Steppenwolf. She was baptized at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Wood and her husband, John, and Margaret Fowler and her husband, Virgil; her grandchildren, Whitney Fowler (Malinda), Caroline English (Jonathan), Holly Atkinson, and Ryan Atkinson (Heather); and 6 great grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Aiken County Animal Shelter 333 Wire Rd. Aiken, SC 29801.
