North Augusta, SC…….Mrs. Alice L. Hester, 82, wife of 59 years to John W. Hester, entered into rest on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at her residence.
Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 in Fairview Presbyterian Church with Dr. Allen M. Thompson and Rev. Masaki Chiba officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. A time of gathering will be held in the church fellowship hall after the committal.
Mrs. Hester had been a resident of North Augusta since 1970. Her passions in life were children and books. She retired in 2001 after serving as a librarian at both the Augusta Public Library and the Nancy Carson Library. Following her retirement, she took on the role of church librarian at Fairview Presbyterian where she was a member of The Neighborhood Sunday School Class. She was heavily involved in child evangelism, particularly at Belvedere Elementary School. She wanted to ensure that all children came to know the love of God. In her spare time, Alice loved to walk around her neighborhood meeting all of her neighbors and learning all she could about them.
Additional survivors include her son, James Guy Hester (Debra); her daughters, Linda May Barron (Leo) and Anne Marie Reider (Mike); her brother, Dixon Lang (Mary); her sister-in-law, Connie Pollack (Alan); her grandchildren, Carolyn Amber Griffin, Jessica Turner, and Kirsten Eileen Barron; one great grandson, Charles Asher Martin.
The members of The Neighborhood Sunday School Class and her prayer group will serve as honorary pallbearers.
