Alejandro "Alex" V. Guanlao

North Augusta, SC…...Mr. Alejandro “Alex” V. Guanlao, 73, husband of Joan Wylong Guanlao, entered into rest on Friday, October 23, 2020 at AU Medical Center.

His funeral service will be held at Pineview Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Entombment alongside his late wife of 38 years, Marcelina “Lina” Guanlao will follow the service.

A native of the Philippines, Mr. Guanlao was a resident of Jersey City, NJ before making North Augusta his home for the last 37 years. He was raised on a farm in the Philippines and carried a passion and talent  for gardening with him throughout his life. He retired from Westinghouse at SRS after 25 years of service as an environmental engineer. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church for 37 years and served in many roles. He also attended Fairview Presbyterian Church. He will be remembered as a generous and loving man who was a great father and grandfather.

Survivors include his sons, Michael David Guanlao and his wife Janell, of Seattle, WA and John Alexander Guanlao and his wife Jessica, of Martinez, GA; His brothers, Jose V. Guanlao, Modesto V. Guanlao, and Andres V. Guanlao, all of the Philippines; his sisters, Lolita G. Ramus of San Francisco, CA and Belen V. Guanlao of the Philippines; his grandchildren, Ezra, Aeva, and Violet; step daughters, Melia Van Dyke and her husband Jody, Krista Manuel and her husband Paul; a step son, Jonathan Wylong and his wife Bridget; his step grandchildren, Austin, Lydia, and Phoebe Van Dyke, Noah Pistory, Haley, Kaydee, and Rory Manuel, Olivia and Parker Wylong; brothers and sisters-in-law, Juanito Pascual, Felixberto Pascual, Ilumina Pascual, and Gloria Bantiles, all of the Philippines, Eugenia Aznar, of Canada, and Marina Digos, of Hawaii.
