North Augusta, SC……… William Paul "Sonny" Masterson, II, 69, husband of Terri Masterson, entered into rest on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at his residence.
William Paul Masterson II, known to family as Sonny, to friends as Bill, and to coworkers as Tailgater, was a man with a giving heart. He grew up on a farm and grew to appreciate hard work. He was a man who loved fruit and sweets in general, CCR, and a funny TV show. Daddy was a generous person that would give anything to those in need and would always give us his last bite of food, even if it was his favorite. As a Vietnam Veteran, he served his country proudly and earned a Bronze Star for his valor in war. Daddy kept this same warrior’s spirit through his eleven year bout with Alzheimer’s disease. Growing up, Daddy always told us that as long as we did our best, that that would be enough. I know that, through watching his fight, he did exactly what he asked of us; he did his best. He fought a good fight and ran his race with much strength and dignity. Although he is in a better place now, his spirit lives on in all who were blessed enough to know him. In honor of our daddy, give your best today and every day and keep the warrior’s spirit. And in the words of my Dad, concerning this whole passing thing, he would say, “Hey, everybody does it.”
To those who would like to pay their respects, we will receive family and friends on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Rowland-Ford Funeral Home on Martintown Road in North Augusta, SC, from 12-1pm with a graveside service to follow at 1:30pm at Westover Memorial Park on Wheeler Road in Augusta, GA. In lieu of flowers, we request donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 106 SRP Drive. Evans, GA 30809 in his memory.
