Marvin Morris Ridgell, 89, of Flagler Beach, FL passed away suddenly on August 4, 2018 at his home.
He was born on July 2, 1929 in Batesburg, SC to the late Frank E. and Eleanor Lee Ridgell (Adams) and stepfather, Dock Calhoun Goff. Marvin served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1949 and assigned to help with the recovery of Pearl Harbor. After being honorably discharged, he married Corene Franklin in May of 1949. They were blessed with two children. Over the years, Marvin worked very hard to support and generously provide for his family. He opened his own business, R&R Truck Repair in Augusta, GA, which he later sold at retirement. In his later years, as his health declined, he moved to Flagler Beach, FL almost three years ago to live with his daughter and her husband. Marvin enjoyed fishing, wood working, and helping friends in need.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Corene, in 1996; son, Jerry Ridgell in 2013, and three brothers. Survivors include his daughter, Kathy (Steve) Carey of Flagler Beach, FL; grandsons, Daniel (Amanda) Carey of Spring Hill, FL and Seth Carey of Gainesville, FL; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Kristin and Jacob Carey; sister, Josephine Corder and many more loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be celebrated on Saturday, August 11, 2018, 1:00 p.m., at Parkview Baptist Church, 5435 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
Marvin will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Sunset Memory Gardens on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tim Goodwin officiating.
