Madeline Vance Elrod, 92, went home for “The Big Celebration” on Thursday, July 25, 2019 with her loving family gathered by her side for her departure.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery in Glasgow, KY on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.
Known by most as, “Nannie”, Madeline never met a stranger. She was the daughter of the late Garnett and Mattie Vance. A native of Glasgow, KY, she moved to Bowling Green, KY after retiring from South Central Rural Telephone Co. In 2012, she moved to North Augusta, SC. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was involved in many activities. Nothing, however, topped her love of baking and sharing it with any and all. Her unconditional love and non-judgemental spirit made her the jewel that she was.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Elrod; six siblings and her great granddaughter, Blakely Elizabeth Nuckols.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Strode Nuckols and son-in-law, Phil; her son, Steve Strode and daughter-in-law, Bonnie; her grandchildren, Tiffany Nuckols Stone, Blake (Kelli) Nuckols, Trey (Courtney) Nuckols, Vance Strode, Mattie Strode, Max Oldham and Demi Oldham; her great grandchildren, Bryson Nuckols, Brayden Stone and Gabriella Nuckols.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 639 Georgia Ave. North Augusta, SC 29841.
