Jayne Scott Toole, beloved wife, mother and community volunteer
We mourn the passing of Jayne Scott Toole, beloved wife of Robert Timothy Toole and loving mother of Kimberly Wright Jackson, Alison Cool Jahn and Erika Toole Ramsey. Jayne passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, in Charleston, S.C., after complications following a brief illness.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Garrett Scott and Lois Adelle Davidson Scott; son, Robert Timothy Toole, Jr.; and son-in-law Benjamin Grant Athay. In addition to her husband and daughters, Jayne is survived by her sister, Joan Scott Toole and brother-in-law Dave L. Toole, with whom she had a very special long-time friendship. She is also survived by sons-in-law H.L. Jackson, III., Michael R. Jahn, and W. Phillip Ramsey and grandsons Oliver G. Athay (A. Jahn), and Brayden T. and Jace P. Ramsey (E. Ramsey).
Jayne was a Clemson Master Gardener and active member of her community. Her most recent roles included President of the Jefferson Davis Chapter 2465 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy; Chairman of the Oakley Park Museum; Treasurer of the Governor Joseph West Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Colonists; Treasurer and Librarian of the Esther Marion Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and member of the Jamestowne Society, the First South Carolina Company of the Jamestowne Society, and South Carolina Southern Dames of America. Jayne graduated high school from the Academy of Richmond County and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Augusta College.
The family will receive visitors October 28, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home in North Augusta, S.C., located at 637 W. Martintown Road. Funeral services will be held October 29, at 11:00a.m. at the chapel of the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home. Burial services will follow at the cemetery of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, located at 600 Main St., New Ellenton, S.C. 29809. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Esther Marion Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and members of the Jefferson Davis Chapter 2465 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
