Dr. Robert Randall Baker

North Augusta, SC……After a long and courageous battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Randy passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 10, 2018. 

His memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Fairview Presbyterian Church with Rev. Masaki Chiba officiating. Interment will be private.

Randy was born on May 9, 1955 and raised in Salem, Ohio. He started his career as a respiratory therapist in Cleveland, Ohio. He moved to Saudi Arabia to work in the King Faisal Hospital in 1979. It was there that he met his lifelong best friend and partner, Susan. Their first two children, Matthew and Katy, were born there. The family returned to the States in 1985, where Randy started his PhD at SUNY Buffalo. The family heeded the call of the South and moved first to Alabama where Randy completed his PhD and celebrated the birth of their third child, Alex. The family moved to North Augusta in 1993 where they have lived for the past 25 years. Randy had a distinguished career at the Medical College of Georgia, retiring as the department chair of the Bachelor's Respiratory Therapy program. Randy loved to spend time with his family, coaching soccer, scuba diving, and many other outdoor activities. Son of Robert Dale Baker and Barbara Quimby Corcoran, he leaves behind wife Susan, sons Matthew, Alex (Kuleigh), and daughter Katy (Justin), as well as beloved grandchildren Nate, Mason, Allie, and Colton. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Rowland-Ford Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Regency Hospice for the loving care they showed to Randy with special thanks to his nurses, Pam, Renee, and Brenda.
